Summer Scheme

The Summer Scheme kicked off on the 23rd July with the Thames Barge trip which sailed out of Maldon on the high tide at 9.30am and headed down the estuary for a two hour sailing. Since then the weather has been kind for us on all the trips we’ve been on. We went to Colchester Zoo on Monday the 28th July, Bressingham Steam Museum and Gardens on Thursday 7th August, then a trip to the sea-side on the 14th August. This year the Summer BBQ was held at the at the Sun and Anchor in Steeple. The pub made us all very welcome and everyone who went had a good time. Wednesday 27th August we visited Royal Powder Mills at Waltham Abby. Very interesting place with lots of history, the Pioneers enjoyed learning how rockets work with a practical illustration which involved filling up a water bottle rocket and pumping it up to a high pressure which was then released to send them along a wire at high speed. The museum was interesting which showed an interesting film on the history of the site. We are looking forward to the last trip which is to Framlingham Castle on the 4th September. This has been organised on an educational group booking basis, on the ground that we are helping Pioneers with life skills and self esteem this will help make it a cheeper and therefore more affordable for those pioneers who are booked to go.
A big big thank you to everyone who has help make these trips so enjoyable for the Pioneers.
