Sailing trip on Kitty the Thames sailing barge

Many of you will have already volunteered to act as support worker the Pioneers on the forthcoming trip. I just wanted to confirm the arrangement for this years trip which was very much enjoyed by all who came last years. Its a chance for Pioneers, friends and family to socialise while sailing down the River Blackwater.

It is on Thursday 13th August. Sailing from Maldon Quay. We ask that those who can get there under their own steam do so some transport will be provided for those who can’t and will have already requested this on their booking forms. The sailing needs to fit in with tides and so the planned schedule is as follows:-

Pioneers and friends should start to gather at Maldon Quay from 10am some of you may like to go for a cup of tea or coffee?
11.00 – guests board (Safety briefing)
11.30 – Kitty departs
There is no food available onboard so Pioneers can either take a packed lunch to eat on board or you may want to have a snack on the prom before we sail and have a Pub meal later when we return to shore at 13.45pm?
13.45pm+ go for a Pub meal or spend a bit of time in and around the Quay or the Promenade Park area.
Transport home will be when the driver deems everyone has had enough and its time to head home.

As last year this trip has been subsidised by much fundraising to allow the Pioneers the chance to sail from Maldon. We thought therefore it should be free for all Pioneers and those who are sailing as working volunteers on the day. We would however like to extend an invitation to friends, carers and family of Pioneers who may like to join us on the trip for a suggested donation of £5 per head per person. Any money raised will go back into the funds to help subsidise future trips such as this.

Should there be any change in these arrangements I will let you know.
