Sponsored Walk 2016

On Sunday the 18th September 2016 a group of Maldon Pioneers, plus volunteers, took part in a sponsored walk event to raise money to help pay for our brand new minibus. The indian summer weather was fine and perfect for the event and the team of eleven Pioneers walker the perimeter of the Plume Academy astroturf sports pitch having completed sponsor forms from friends, carers and the Maldon public. With each circuit measuring approximately a quarter of a mile we were able to work out that four times round was a mile walked and this could be recorded on the Pioneer’s sponsor sheets.

After walking a couple of miles. Most Pioneers stopped for a welcome rest and some refreshment which had been prepared. Then it was off again for some more laps of the pitch. A really fun and enjoyable afternoon was had by all who attended. Thank you to Brian for organising the event. Thank you to the Plume Academy for use of its sports facilities. Thank you to Ellen for organising the refreshments and last but not least, a big thank you all the volunteer helpers who came and supported the Pioneers and walked round also. Everyone should feel very proud of this wonderful effort which will help the Pioneers feel they helped to fund their minibus and take ownership of it. See the photos in the gallery.
