Music Man - Regent Hall Concert

On Saturday 11th February, the Maldon Pioneer musicians joined forces with other students from Music Man Project Essex (Maldon and Southend) to perform at Regent Hall in London. The coach journey was full of excitement and we caused chaos by carrying our African drums through a very crowded Oxford Street. The performers were all absolutely brilliant and coped perfectly with the pressures of performing in a new and packed out venue. The students all said what a great time they had and are now all well-established musicians and performers. The audience was full of enthusiasm and the performers received many encouraging comments about their musical skills and uplifting performance. We performed a combination of our familiar repertoire, along with some of our newer pieces. One of the highlights of the concert for me was a solo performance by Leo Williams of the opening verse of ‘Music is Magic’ – which is our famous charity single that was released back in 2015 to coincide with our previous concert at the London Palladium. For those of you who don’t know, we are returning to the Palladium on October 15th for what I’m sure will be an incredible evening of music by over 200 Music Man Project performers from all over the UK. Tickets are free for this concert and can be ordered through myself (07852 268575 or natalie.bradford@rcm.ac.uk) and I really hope you will be able to join us and support the Pioneers at this exciting event.
